Goodbye to America

What a month it has been! We have said many goodbyes, but with the encouragement that our loved ones support us unconditionally. The above photo was taken on our last Sunday at Fourth St. in Selmer. The children pictured with us, Alma and Lupe, have become very dear to our hearts. We are proud that Lupe is now our brother in Christ, and he exemplifies the vision we have for Scotland: to teach the Gospel to children and their families.

God has blessed us greatly with the opportunity to spend time with our family for the past few weeks. We have been in both Arkansas and Georgia, and it has been a wonderful experience. We are looking forward to our departure in 5 days, on June 22. Although we are somewhat saddened to say goodbye to family and friends, we are excited to say hello to our new life in Scotland!

  1. Mary, Are you there for a mission trip? I guess you know Alexander Campbell was from Scotland as was his father. So he spoke with a Scottish accent. I’m looking forward to your posts. I’ll be praying for you all.

  2. I’m glad you have a blog so we can keep up with you! It was good to see you guys, and to get to hear Richard preach again. He certainly has a gift for it, and it’s exciting to see you both following God’s leading… all the way to Scotland! God bless you both!

  3. God bless both of you as you leave this country to do the Lord’s work in Scotland. I know you’ll be greatly missed here, but the Lord’s church in Scotland will be blessed by your being there. In this picture, you both look like “naturals” with the kiddos. Who knows? Perhaps you’ll bring back 2 or 3 little Harps of your own when you return:) Until then, “May the Lord bless and keep you till we meet again.” In Christ, The Shirley’s-Mike, Devona, Clay and Alyssa:)

  4. We will certainly miss you two. Richard, I think of you every time I see that lamp you made for the library. Go with our prayers and hopes for a good work. Mary, don’t forget to keep us posted on things.
    Love you both,

  5. Richard and Mary, it was very sad that you two left, but I know it is for the best of the kingdom. Yall are an inspiration to me: to put God first in everything and He will give you the desires of your heart. Sometimes it is a struggle, but with positive attitudes like you guys have, it makes everything easier knowing that Heavenly goal is a little bit closer. Thank you for the many things each of you taught me these past 3 1/2 years, I have grown so much as a Christian woman, with Mary’s guidance and companionship and Richard’s devoted and positive leadership. I love you two. Your favorite band nerd, Emilie 🙂

  6. So excited for you guys. Maybe me and em can get out there sometime for a visit. Praying for your success and growth. Love you both!!
