About the Harps

The Harps Richard (26) was born twelve minutes after his twin sister in Auckland, New Zealand in 1985. He is the son of missionary parents Scott and Jenny Harp of Buford, GA. His twin sister Rebecca currently resides in Memphis, Tennessee with her husband Kyle Hooper. They are amazing! His “little” sister Brooke Harp is no longer little and is a recent FHU graduate. She is engaged to William McCurry. She too is amazing!

Richard married this pretty lady you see hugging him in the picture. He was very blessed when he married Mary Page Plamer at 3:00pm on July 7th 2007. She is the love of his life and has honored him greatly by making his plans hers as they make the move to Scotland.

Richard  graduated from FHU in August 2007 receiving his B.A. in Bible and again in May 2010, receiving his MNT in New Testament Studies. Other significant works in Richard’s life include volunteering for the Henderson City Fire Department as a firefighter for two years.

Richard’s hobbies include gardening, writing poetry, drawing, playing hacky sack, racquetball, basketball, fishing (Bass fishing mostly), and building lamps.

Mary (24) (previously Palmer) was born and raised in Paragould, AR. Her parents are Chuck and Donna Palmer and she has two siblings, Stephanie Vick (married to Donnie Vick) and Aaron Palmer (married to Betsy Frizzell). She grew up attending the Center Hill church of Christ and Crowley’s Ridge Academy. Although interested in travel and missions, Mary never knew she would have this opportunity until she met Richard at Freed-Hardeman University in 2005! She could not be happier to have found such a godly husband. Mary graduated from FHU in May 2009 with a B.A. in Art and Secondary Education. Her favorite experience as a college student was her semester spent studying abroad in Europe, which made her think more seriously about living overseas. Mary’s hobbies include cooking, sewing (recent) and all things art. She is excited about using her talents to benefit the Kingdom.
